Projects
Here at PRI, we are dedicated to seeing a project through from start to finish. From designing and engineering to fabrication, testing and training, PRI has your back.
Our experienced project managers are responsible for planning, procuring, and executing projects, while also ensuring deadlines are met. If a problem or sudden alteration arises, they are quick to act and find solutions. PRI’s engineers focus on designing, testing, and researching devices and systems to ensure we offer the best options to satisfy our clients’ needs. They make sure each component of a project can communicate with another to create a fully functional device and system.

Current Projects
Massapequa-Valley Stream Transformer Replacements
Design Build Services for Improvements on the Flushing Line
Canarsie Line PA/CIS Upgrades
Brooklyn Detention Center Mimic Panel
PRI is upgrading the public address and customer information sign system for NYCT’s Canarsie Line (L train). We are providing each station on the line with a new PA/CIS cabinet, an upgraded design PRI developed to address the shortcomings of previous generations of PA cabinets.
We have supplied and assisted with the installation of 164 customer information signs and over 2,500 speakers. PRI is also working closely with Siemens Mobility to develop an API that will allow the existing Canarsie CBTC system to interface with the PA/CIS head-end system.
PRI is building, testing, and shipping a mimic panel for the Brooklyn Detention Center. This panel will make it easier to monitor equipment status throughout the center.
Motor Generator Replacement at LIRR Wantagh and West Hempstead
Holland Tunnel Maintenance Service
PRI furnished complete PLC control systems, including Main PLC, MG PLC, High Tension PLC Cabinet, VFD and VFD PLC, for new motor generators at two LIRR sites. PRI will deliver the motor generators along with the complete PLC control systems to both the Wantagh and West Hempstead locations.
PRI monitors the Holland Tunnel network system to remedy the issues that arise from older infrastructure and the obsolescence of system materials.
Queens Boulevard Line East
Sandy Repair and Flood Mitigation: 207th Street Yard
PRI performed work at three LIRR stations. We removed three old, dry-type transformers, and replaced them with new, oil-filled 4600kVa transformers. The replacements took place at two stations in Valley Stream and one in Massapequa. The new transformers have higher power ratings, higher cooling efficiency, and a longer lifespan.
PRI is completing work at three stations along the Flushing Line. At 61st Street, we are providing a new, PRI-designed CCTV system, including a CCTV data cabinet. We are also supplying a new IP phone in the EMR, Communication Room, and Signal Office. At 74th Street, we are replacing the analog phone in the EMR with a new IP phone.
PRI is providing three temporary platforms with PA systems to facilitate operations. In addition to installing speakers at each of the three platforms, we are also supplying an IP-based phone with video monitoring for the new token booth.
The MTA is extending signal modernization along the Queens Boulevard Line east of Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Station with Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC). The upgrade of the signal system to CBTC will allow trains to safely run at a greater speed and at closer distances, providing more efficient and reliable service on the E and F lines.
PRI’s scope for this project includes designing, procuring, fabricating, and integrating the communication equipment, including CCTV, AICS, PSLAN Network, Telephone, and Radio equipment at Briarwood Station, Parsons Blvd. Station, 169th St. Station, and 179th St./Jamaica Station.
The work to be performed consists of signal system modernization at 207th Street Yard, rehabilitation of existing and construction of new facilities including Relay Rooms, Train Control and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) Rooms and restoration of track infrastructure on the IND 8th Avenue Line in the Borough of Manhattan.
PRI will be designing, procuring, and integrating the access control/security system for two of the brand-new buildings (Building A and Building B) being fabricated for this project. These include both two new SoftwareHouse panels and two new Lenel panels.
Design Build Services for the Replacement of Babylon and Hillside Motor Generators
LGA Plugin Stations
Accessibility Upgrade at 68th Street-Hunter College
The LIRR is replacing motor generators at two sites, and PRI designed, manufactured, tested, and installed prefabricated MG buildings as replacements. The Babylon motor generator was installed on an elevated steel platform, and the Hillside building was installed on a concrete platform foundation, following the demolition of the existing structure at this location.
PRI equipped both sites with a transformer, battery room, PLC SCADA equipment, and associated components.
LaGuardia Airport is installing Electric Vehicle charging stations, and PRI is providing switchgear and transformer equipment to keep the wheels turning.
The MTA is implementing improvements to make the subway station more accessible and efficient at both street and station levels. The accessibility upgrades include three new elevators to improve ADA access.
PRI’s scope for this project includes procuring and integrating the communication systems and Benning Power Plant equipment. The new CIS signage will indicate train timelines and other updates; the CCTV will improve safety and security of the station; and the PSLAN will incorporate all these systems onto the NYCT network for enhanced access and information.
