A-36164 -Accessibility Upgrade at 68th Street-Hunter College

The MTA is implementing improvements to the 68th Street-Hunter College Station located at Lexington Avenue and East 68th Street in Manhattan. This project will make the subway station accessible for persons with disabilities and improve pedestrian circulation, reduce pedestrian congestion within the station and at the street level, and foster efficient passenger access to trains and efficient occupancy of trains.

The accessibility upgrades include three new elevators to improve ADA access as well as two new entrances/stairwells at 69th Street and another new stairwell on Lexington Ave/Imperial House apartment building.

PRI’s scope for this project includes procuring and integrating the communication systems (CCTV, PSLAN, and PACIS) at 68th St.-Hunter College Station and Benning (Power Plant) equipment. The new CIS signage will indicate train timelines and other updates; the CCTV will improve safety and security of the station; and the PSLAN will incorporate all these systems onto the NYCT network for enhanced access and information.

Check back for more information as the project progresses.
