Main Line 3rd Track Expansion: MG Sets

The construction of a 3rd track from Floral Park to Hicksville is being undertaken to reduce train congestion and delays and enable true bidirectional service during peak hours with a more reliable rail network. This transformative work includes several related projects including the construction of up to 5 parking garages, retaining walls, improvements to rail bridges and the removal of 7 street-level grade crossings.

PRI Inc. will be furnishing, testing, and installing a brand new Motor Generator System as well as a Mobile Substation for the LIRR to use along this line. For more project information, also see the official LIRR Project Page at http://www.amodernli.com/project/thirdtrack/.

Here at PRI, we are now involved in two aspects of the 3rd Track Expansion Project. We have already started to furnish, test, and install an updated SCADA System for use along the Nassau and Queens Tracks in an ambitious effort to finish this massive project on time in 2022.
